In the event management industry, sustainability, "green," "eco," and similar terms are mentioned more frequently. To be clear, these are not the same concepts. Each denotes a certain, but different, level of awareness and integration of sustainability standards in event planning.

The marketing industry really mentions sustainability at every turn — in advertisements, across promotional activities, and on every corner sustainable packaging is touted. But how much of that is actually true? Industries that promote themselves as green often, without substantiation, leave behind significant waste after promotional events.

We recently read an interesting article on the topic of negative CO2 emissions. Shocking, isn't it? That's why we highlighted several more examples of CO2 emissions we weren't aware of or hadn't considered—many of which appear in our everyday lives.

Although we've explained many times what sustainable events are—their benefits, why you should run them, and how to do so—today we've chosen a slightly different approach to present sustainability and reveal another side of it. Here are a few points we'd like you to consider when thinking about sustainability.
