Why Every Event Manager Should Invest in Continuing Education

Every educational experience represents a form of progress, whether professional or personal. Knowledge is something no one can take away from you — you always carry it with you, and it becomes part of who you are. So why is it so difficult for us to set aside a certain amount for training or professional development?

I recently attended a training session that also served as a presentation for an EU project offering non-repayable grants that can be invested in business. But there was a catch. Those funds can be invested in people, their training, or consulting services. At the end of the presentation, after examples of how the funds could be used, a question from the audience surprised me: "Can it really only be invested in training?"

I'm not sure if it was me or if I had the wrong impression, but that question truly surprised me. Immediately, I thought: What could be more valuable? I tried to answer by outlining the benefits people can gain from training. I could see that the person who asked the question hadn't absorbed that. Unfortunately, that's precisely why I decided to write this article — to encourage all event managers to pursue further education, regardless of their current qualifications or experience. Some of the reasons I believe event managers should choose training are the following:

  1. Higher hourly rates/fees

The simple fact is this — the more knowledge and experience you have, the higher your rates will be because you can justify them. Prices without backing are quickly exposed, and the business model collapses. That's why it's crucial to have knowledge that is always up to date and that can justify your price.

  • Better networking

Training can always connect you with other people in your industry who share the same mindset and, importantly, similar values, which matters a great deal in the business world. Don't miss these opportunities simply because you're accustomed to doing things the same way.

  • Personal growth and development

If you're not satisfied with your current position, additional training will almost certainly change that. Maybe you're stuck in a job you don't enjoy and can't see a path forward. Or you're the owner of a company that's also stagnant. As I said, education is an excellent way to achieve progress, whether personally or professionally.

That said, don't forget that Eventful also offers regular training sessions, both online and on-site. You can find more about them on our website, in the Lectures section. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming training. 😊

P.S. One more hint: Follow our social media channels — we often run special promotions across various types of training.
